What are the criteria for the motivation letter?

The  letter  of  intent  should  be  no  longer  than  one  page,  and  should  express your interest in participating in the Engelsberg Summer School in Classical Architecture, as well as your background, your expectations for the course and your future prospects.

Do Engelsberg Summer School offer credits that I can transfer to my University program?

A.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer credits. By the end of the course you will receive a certificate that proves your completion and participation in the Summer School.

Will I get notified if I didn’t get accepted?

A.

Yes. We will notify all applicants if they got accepted or not.

How will I know if I got accepted?

A.

We will notify all applicants by sending them a confirmation email with the status of their application.

How do I get to Engelsberg on the day of commence?

A.

Prior to your arrival we will be in touch with you. If you arrive to Stockholm by plane we will arrange transportation for you to Engelsberg. If you arrive by other means to Stockholm, we will see to book you train tickets, or other, to get to Engelsberg.

How will accommodations be organized? Do we share rooms?

A.

No, you will not be asked to share a room with anyone. Engelsberg ironworks provides comfortable and clean bedrooms, which you will be given one each.

Will I have access to Wifi?

A.

Yes, Engelsberg ironworks is equipped with Wifi.

Can I bring my spouse to the course?

A.

No, the application, acceptance, accommodation and conduct of the course only concern the applicant.

Do I bring my own work material to the Summer School?

A.

No, you don’t have to bring any material for the course. We will provide you with all the work material you need for the course.

Do I need to bring cash?

A.

We encourage students to bring a small amount of Swedish kroner to the course. Engelsberg is a very small village but occasionally we make smaller excursions within the vicinity and some students might choose to buy an ice cream or coffee. Most places in Sweden accept credit cards, such as MasterCard and VISA.

Will alcohol be served during meals?

A.

Due to Swedish Laws we are not allowed to serve alcohol to course participants. When given the opportunity students can buy wine or beer at the store, which they can bring to meals if they prefer.

Will I be reimbursed if I drop the course after I made the payment?

A.

No, we don’t offer reimbursement for dropouts, unless given a valid reason.

Which language will the lectures be in?

A.

The whole course will be conducted in English.

Is a deposit required to hold my place?

A.

No, we don’t ask for a deposit.

When and how do I pay?

A.

Payment details will be sent out after successful application is confirmed and the payment is due on the 1st of June.

Will I be able to make my own excursions?

A.

It is an intensive course with a full schedule and organized days in order for every student to extract as much as possible from visiting professors, assignments and practical work. There is no planned time that would provide opportunities for a day excursion on your own initiative during the period of the course.
