Who we are

Our website address is: http://engelsberg.intbau.org.

Engelsberg Summer School in Classical Architecture (ESSCA) was established in 2016 and is a collaboration between INTBAU and The Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation for Public Benefit. INTBAU is a worldwide global network dedicated to creating better places to live through traditional building, architecture, and urbanism. The Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation for Public Benefit is a private foundation with the primary purpose of promoting scientific and scholarly research in general.

The mission of ESSCA is to support traditional building and educate architects in classical architecture and is dedicated to teaching students of all levels to analyze, draw, discuss and design new architecture through instruction in the fundamentals of classical architectural literacy at the architectural and urban scale. Every summer, students are gathered at Engelsberg ironworks in Sweden for a four-week intensive program taught by leading practitioners and academics of modern classical architecture.
