George Saumarez Smith is one of the leading classical architects of his generation. Much of his inspiration comes from an appreciation and study of historic buildings, combined with a high level of classical literacy. George’s work is also characterised by an attention to fine detail in craftsmanship and construction. His work includes both new buildings and alterations, extensions and repairs to historic properties and he has also been involved in design consultancy and urban masterplanning on several projects. He has received various awards for his work and was one of six shortlisted architects for the 2011 Young Architect of the Year Award.
