Trained in the 1970s and early 1980s in Delft, Peter Drijver and Mieke Bosse were influenced by the overlapping strategies that Leon Krier and Maurice Culot used in their counter-projects. Retro-fit architecture and traditional urbanism mixed with social commitment offered a productive perspective for young architects. Refurbishing a former furniture and aeroplane company downtown in the Hague was a counter-project that actually got built in the late 1908s and illustrates that influence. The project still stands out for its attention to public realm, traditional restoration, mixed use and underground car parking. Since then, SCALA Architects have designed many housing projects in the Netherlands, all of them on their own ‘a just perfect’ solution for the particular spot in the town or village in question.
Our Summer Course will run from 1st – 28th of July 2019.
