Jonathan Taylor is a partner at Timothy Smith & Jonathan Taylor LLP, an architectural practice engaging with the contemporary application of the classical language of architecture. The practice is based in London and has projects throughout the United Kingdom. Smith & Taylor were recently included in the Architecture Foundation’s publication New Architects 3, described as “the definitive survey of Britain’s best emerging practices”. Jonathan studied at Edinburgh College of Art, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and at the University of Wales. Prior to establishing his own practice he worked on masterplanning schemes in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Edinburgh’s Old Town, with a renowned conservation practice in Edinburgh, and for practices in London and Malawi. Together with Timothy Smith, he teaches the UK’s only M.Arch design studio directly engaged with the classical language of architecture at Kingston University, London. Jonathan has been a guest critic at the Cass school of Architecture, Edinburgh College of Art and at the ETH, Zurich.
